Tokyo Ghoul

Wow, I've been dead for some quite time, huh? Gonna blame all these wonderful anime shows that have been delightfully shoved in my face lately and Instagram. Very addictive those two... So, I'll begin by ranting about Tokyo Ghoul.

So, I'll admit, at first, I wasn't expecting much. A lot of horror-tragedy anime exist already. What makes this one any different? The protagonist will probably be somehow involved with some underground monstrosity happening and drama ensues.

Boy, was I wrong.

It turns out Tokyo Ghoul is simply amazing. The emotions, characters, animation were so on point!

*SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT ONWARD*

I am already caught up on the anime (not on the manga yet) and wow, I need more episodes of it. Kaneki's transformation from a human to a half ghoul-half human hybrid made him look at the ghouls in a different light. Before, when he heard them on the news, he thought they were monsters. Just like the rest of human society. Well, until he was turned into one none other than Rize.

Both the faults of humanity and ghouls were illustrated. Both of them have killed humans and ghouls. Both of them can be emotionally devastated, actually have feelings, and go crazy as seen through Nishiki Nishio, Kureo Mado, Touka Kirishima, poor Hinami-chan, basically, every single character on the show.

Nishiki protecting Kimi from Tsukiyama, although, he's already badly injured. Aww, cute.

Nishiki and Kimi

Episode 6 'Cloudburst' Wow, Touka, didn't know you wanted to taste Kaneki that badly. >:3

Mado being an ass to the ghoul society.

Humans are supposed to believe ghouls are non-feeling monsters after having their loved ones killed by them. They only think through their perspective and not the ghoul's. The same applies to the ghouls. Only until Episode 8 'Circular', where both sides started to realize they weren't too different.

Kaneki shouting at Amon to leave before he loses control, crying. Touka desperately talking to Mado about what it feels like to be in a ghoul's shoes. How much she longs to be human and how she's forced to live this horrid lifestyle. Hinami not being able to kill Mado, although, he ruthlessly killed both of her parents. Touka seeing the ring on Mado's left finger, realizing in horror that he also had a family. How killing ghouls so long eventually drove him to insanity. Confusion, frustration, and forgiveness.

Okay, I'll say it, couple of tears fell a bit during this episode. It... It just seemed so real. I don't know, perhaps, I'm just a crybaby when it comes to anime. You do not want to know what happened after I watched Episode 25 Death Note. . . *ugly sobbing noises* It's also sad that only 12 episodes are planned for Tokyo Ghoul. . . xvx

Anyway, I'm expecting a lot of good things to come from Tokyo Ghoul. I mean, it's practically like the SNK of 2014. I love Attack on Titan too, but, this year, I think, maybe, Tokyo Ghoul's got the spotlight. As I mentioned briefly before, there are more amazing anime shows. There will always be, hopefully. Terror in Resonance/Zankyou no Teroru, DRAMAtical Murder, Free! Eternal Summer to say a few of my faves. I'm kind of sad that Terror in Resonance isn't as popular as it should be. Amazing animation. Amazing plot. (Man, I've been using that word so much it feels tedious now)

Looking forward for white haired Kaneki to make an appearance in the anime (like every fangirl)
